This position certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. On day one, you’ll be pairing up with one of our veteran developers and beginning work on a greenfield project for a real client. We keep a demanding pace of 35 hours of billable work per week. With the other five, you’ll be contributing back to the community with blog posts, open source work, or whatever suits your fancy. It may not sound like much, but trust me — at the end of every day you’ll be mentally exhausted.

With the help of your fellow crew members and captain, you’ll learn how to storycard and use vim like a Rocketeer. But most importantly, you’ll learn what it takes to design, test, and code the highest quality Rails apps in the world and deliver outstanding value to your clients.

If you think you can handle it, we need your Twitter and Github usernames so we can get a sense of who you are and what you can do. If we like what we see, we’ll have a short video chat and ask you some questions. If you make it through that, then we will bring you down to headquarters for a week and rotate you around he office to pair with the Rocketeers.

We want to see how motivated you are to learn and how well you fit in with the crew. Remember that we don’t expect you to be an expert Rails dev … I mean, that’s why you’re here, right?

If you get accepted into the program, we expect to see you working hard to improve yourself. We will set expectations for your progress as a developer and a consultant and provide constant feedback to help you make the most of your apprenticeship. You will also receive medical, dental, time off, and other perks that the rest of the team enjoys.
